Lubrication PointsWhile Ambassadeurs are capable of standing a fair degree of neglect without packing up a little tlc every now and then won't go amiss. Luckily these reels are simple to strip down and rebuild using the bare minimum of equipment - it can actually be done using just the tool that comes with the reel. The key areas to take care of are the levelwind, the drag, and the spool release mechanism. Bearings also benefit from a drop of oil from time to time. Simply removing the left hand side plate by undoing the three knurled thumb screws will give you access to the important oiling points as shown in the reel handbook (right).

If you live in the UK and want to order spares to service reels yourself Tight Lines Services (01522 523834) will be able to help you even if you haven't got the part numbers. I have put a few lhw schematics here to help you find part numbers if you are uncertain of what you require.
