Torrix Rods for Predators

While Torrix blanks in the higher test curves were originally designed for carp fishing I reckon some also make good predator rods. The actions are slightly tippier than my standard predator rods, and consequentially not quite as through action. I list the three I like best from the range on this page. Prices include cork handle with flared end and plastic button on the ten footers and my standard DNPS/abbreviated Duplon handles on the eleven footer. Other handle options are available. Rings as standard are Fuji BCLSVOG .

All three blanks are super slim with woven carbon butt sections and plain carbon tips.

Compared to my P-4 the overall power of this rod is fairly similar. The difference being the softer tip on the Torrix which I find makes it good for casting 2oz leads with worms or small deadbaits on the hook for eels. I've used this as an all-round eel rod for small venues. For pike it would make casting off soft baits a little less likely.

Falling between the P-4 and P-3 in test curve once more the softer tip makes this suitable for livebaiting for pike or distance fishing for eels. Nothing much more to add.

Again kind of similar to another of my predator rods, this time the P-5, I have used the T11-325 for eel and catfish fishing. I prefer the stiffer tip and more progressive action of the P-5 for casting pike baits, but this hasn't stopped me lobbing a decent bait out for cats. If the T10-275 wasn't a more convenient length for some of my eeling I'd still be using this rod. Using it for cats was only an experiment, but it handled a fifteen pounder without any trouble. I also used this one (a set of three actually) for my sole summer carp campaign back in 2016 when it proved ideal for the waters I fished.
